RELIGION

During Religion this month we will discuss the season of Lent.  In Religion, students will learn about the events leading up to Easter.  Also, students will study about the Precious Peal and Mustard Seed.  Please continue to pray with your children.

 ACADEMICS

Our focus this month is reviewing classroom rules, pre-writing skills, skywriting, reviewing alphabet and letter sounds.  Each morning we will continue to review the alphabet, days of the week, months of the year, colors, shapes, and recognition of their name.  Also the students will be introduced to recognizing matching sounds and rhymes in familiar words or words in songs and in nursey rhymes.

 

In the wonderful world of mathematics, students are recognizing numbers from 1-12, counting numbers using the connecting cubes, patterning, and reviewing shapes and colors. 

 

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE

Please don’t forget to sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences on March 15, 2018 in the evening

6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and March 16, 2018 8:00 am -3:45 pm in the Pre-K 3 Room.  Sign- up sheets will be available in the classroom.

Please continue to pray for the sick in our community, our school and for our children to continue their growth in the Lord and their academic skills. Please make sure that your child has a good night sleep before coming to school.

Again, we want to thank you for your encouraging words and your great support of the K-3 Class.  Also Parents thank you for sending back the Parent Survey for my CDA Credential.  You are FANTASTIC! (Ms. Barnes)

The Theme and Catholic Value of this month are the following:  “My Neighborhood,” and “Patience, Hope and Peace.”

RELIGION

During Religion this month we will be discussing God’s love and being patient.  In the Atrium, students will be learning about the Precious Pearl and the Mustard Seed Parables.  Please continue to pray with your children.  February 14th is Ash Wednesday which is the first day of Lent.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

This month we are studying about famous African American Heroes.  The students will be reciting a poem and singing one song at the Black History Program on February 25, 2014.  The students have been working hard on memorizing this poem and I know you will enjoy our program!  This month’s colors are red, black, and green.  Students  are learning about the African American Mask, African Flag, and what the colors of the flag mean.  Please don’t forget your child’s Black History Project, due in on February 13, 2018.

ACADEMICS

Our focus this month is on “My Neighborhood” (Saxon), prewriting, reviewing the alphabet and working on sight and sounds of each letter.  Each morning we will continue reviewing the alphabet from A-Z.  Students will be able to listen for and discern words beginning with each of the letters and review the capital and lowercase forms of the letters.

In Math students are counting from 0-100, recognizing numbers from 0-20, reviewing patterning, pre-math skills, graphing, shapes and colors.  Students will practice skywriting and tracing numbers.

 

 

VALENTINE’S DAY AND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

We will have a Valentine’s Day and February Birthday celebration on February 9, 2018.  Please send valentines on that day.  There are twenty (20) students in our class, and two adults.  Parents you are welcome to send healthy treats on that day.  Please let me know if you are going to send treats before February 9, 2018.  The party will start at 2:30 p.m. after naptime.

Please continue to pray for our students for their growth in the Lord, their academic skills, and for the sick in our community.

Please make sure your child has plenty of rest and a good breakfast to start their day at school.  Please keep your child home if he/she is not feeling well (especially if running a fever) or if other children in the family have been sick.  It is better to take an extra day to feel better.
