From Mrs. Tolliver

Welcome to Holy Savior Catholic Academy K4 Class and the 2016-2017 school year. I am Mrs. Tolliver and I will be your guide through a fun and exciting year of tremendous academic growth and social development.  In this newsletter you will find valuable information regarding our classroom.  Please read it carefully.  If you have any questions and or concerns we can address them together at Back To School Parent Night, Thursday, August 25th, 6:00pm-8:30pm.

  1. Drop Off and Dismissal:  You need to drop your child off at the front of the school using the south doors by the office.  I would like to have all students here by 7:40a.m.  Class begins at 7:45a.m.  If your child arrives before 7:40a.m., he/she needs to go to the Extended Day room located in the portable.  Students will be dismissed to the classroom from there.  At 3:30p.m. you will pick up your child at our classroom door.  Please let me know if your child will be going to the extended day program after school.  All students will go to the extended day program at 3:45p.m.
  2. Naptime:  If you did not send a blanket or towel for your child to use at rest time, please send one as soon as possible.  Please only bring a blanket or towel for your child to lie on.  Due to a lack of storage space, please do not bring stuffed animals, pillows or mats.  It is not mandatory that your child go to sleep at naptime, but he/she will need to lie down and rest.
  3. Behavior:  I will be using the Positive Discipline method along with a behavior intervention model to help create a classroom climate that enhances academic learning.  The students will learn how to problem solve in a kind way.  Students will also gain courage, confidence and life skills that will help them live successfully in our society. We will be working on the following like skills.

*I can be productive and follow directions even if I’m mad.

*I can be productive and follow directions even if others are not OK.

*I can be productive and follow directions even if I don’t want to.

HSCA’s Two Standard School Rules

(The Bottom Line)

*It’s never okay to be hurtful.

*It’s never okay to be disruptive and interfere with learning.

I will send home a behavior sheet on an individual basis for any student I feel I need to stay in communication with parents about their child’s behavior.

  1. Daily Folders:  Your child will use a daily folder to keep their finished class work and notes from the office and me.  It is very important that you and your child check the folder each evening as routine.  Please take out and review all papers.  Please return folder with child every day.  I check folders every morning.  If you have anything that needs to go to the office I will make sure it gets to the office.

During the course of this school year our class will work on the following:

  • ABC Order
  • Beginning/Initial Consonants

Welcome to Pre K 3 / 4

Hello Parents and Students!

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable summer!

Welcome to Holy Savior Catholic Academy and welcome to the Pre K 3/4 class! I am so excited to be back in session! My classroom is full of love and learning!

Some of the language arts skills that we will be working diligently on are phonological awareness, letter formation and recognition, vocabulary, and writing their first and last names just to name a few.  This year our own Ms. Franklin will be our Pre K Math teacher for the preschool classrooms! She will be utilizing many math manipulatives to teach math skills so your child can have that hands-on, tactile experience.

I am anxiously awaiting your child’s arrival on Wednesday, August 17th at 7:45 a.m. for a wonderful first day of school!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the office at 684-2141.

May the peace of Christ be with you,

Mrs. Tolliver, Classroom Instructor
