The May lesson involves going to TKAAM Online Engagement Center, enrolling and completing the African Culture courses found in #WeARECulture (including the promised course about an African Male Initiation ceremony—the Chiwara Headdress. The Center is entered via TKAAM’s website (as noted in instructions).
Question 2 refers students to a website where they can play a game that helps them learn the African countries and where they are located on the continent. To complete questions 3-6, students refer to the African American Flag and Great Kings & Queens of Africa worksheets. The remainder of the review asks students to comment on what they preferred to do more or less of and what they would like us to know about the program.
May activities include drawing a symbolic family flag and completing an African Countries word search. The word search includes most of the countries name in the activity with the remaining countires listed below. If there are any questions countries like Sudan and S Sudan (partial repeat of names) are found separately in the word search.

Self-Discovery Program enrollment now open for area students Adinkrahene: Journey to Greatness offers African American Cultural Awareness Wichita, KS
Collaborators for Adinkrahene: Journey to Greatness program, an African American cultural awareness program opened enrollment to Wichita-area school students. The Kansas African American Museum (TKAAM) partnered with Holy Savior Catholic Academy’s (HSCA) Ubuntu Village School (UVS) to create Adinkrahene: Journey to Greatness program. Through Adinkrahene (pronounced A-dink-ra + hen-e), the Adinkra symbol for greatness and royalty, HSCA and TKAAM will provide an opportunity for self-discovery as students visit TKAAM to study African American cultural in a three-year series of monthly educational opportunities during the school year. Student enrollment is through HSCA’s Ubuntu Village Saturday School at HSCA. Participants can download an application from the HSCA website. Students attend monthly Adinkrahene sessions the first Saturday from September through May at The Kansas African American Museum, 601 N. Water in Wichita. The rest of each month UVS students attend sessions Saturdays when school is in session at the newly built Holy Savior Catholic Academy at 13th and Chautauqua Streets (1457 N Chautauqua) in NE Wichita. “Ubuntu is a Swahili word that means ‘I am because we are,’” said HSCA Pres. This partnership also fulfills HSCA’s mission to provide encouragement, evangelization, and educational excellence to African American and other diverse students to be successful learners and successful in life. “Offering Adinkrahene: Journey to Greatness in partnership with TKAAM the program breathes, as it walks, runs and even dances.”
