God our Heavenly Father,
Please help our world during this trying time. May the souls of all those whose lives have been taken rest in peace and may their families feel our Lord's loving kindness. May everyone infected by the virus be healed if it is God's holy will, and may the many doctors, nurses, and other personnel who are being overwhelmed with patients receive the strength they need to do their best and help their communities. May all those who are out of a job or not getting enough food have their needs be met and may the entire world stay calm and turn to God during this trying time. Amen.
We are excited to share with you the Continuous Learning Plan for Holy Savior Catholic Academy. The teachers have worked exceptionally hard to arrive at a plan that will help your child successfully finish this school year.
With your partnership and your support, we will get through this. We recognize the increased responsibility that Continuous Learning puts on you and your entire family. It is our goal to provide you with the resources needed to meet your child’s basic and academic needs so that all families can participate to the level they are capable. We know that the cancellation of regularly attended school has created change for everyone. This plan was created with sensitivity to all the diverse conditions our families and students will be working under during these unprecedented times.
As we walk with you on this unique journey of education, we will help along each step of the way. While the school setting has changed, there is still work to be completed in order to be prepared for the next grade level. It is important that students continue to do their best!
• Pre-K: 30 minutes
• Grades K-1: 45 minutes
• Grades 2-3: 60 minutes
• Grades 4-5: 90 minutes
• Grades 6-8: 30 minutes per teacher (3 hours max in a day)
There will be a survey emailed to you each Friday night beginning April 3 to ask how the week’s lessons were both in amount of learning and time. Please be honest. This is new to all of us.
Following the Wichita Catholic Diocese recommendations for grading during this time, Holy Savior will
Each Sunday night beginning March 29, the week’s lessons will be sent to each family through email. Please make sure that your email is up-to-date with the school office. All lessons will be sent to every family because some families have more than one child at our school. Your child is only responsible for his/her grade level work.
Lessons will also be available at our website http://holy-savior.org/school
Go to the continuous learning tab and choose the grade. The current lessons’ work will be displayed and will also be available on the same page, on right side of the screen under documents so you can access previous weeks’ lessons if necessary.
There are tabs for every student including PE, Spanish and Parent Resources tabs. Please make sure to also check these tabs weekly. For instance, the parent resource tab has a link for students to continue to come to Mass on Wednesday and Friday. Each day we will continue to start with prayer, pledge of allegiance and mission statement. In the parent resource tab, there is a link to our YouTube channel where a new video will be every school day and have announcements for the day. Another resource in the parent tab is contact information for our social worker, Ty Young.
We continue to serve food from 11:00-12:00 each day. Children ages 1-18, even those not attending Holy Savior are welcome to come and pick up a lunch and breakfast free of charge. Simply pull up to the cone just past the school office drive and open your trunk. Children must be in the car to receive the food. Tell the person helping how many children and the food will be placed in your trunk.
We understand that there will be many challenges in this new way of learning but there will also be opportunities as parents to connect with our kids. Please reach out to us and let us know what help or support you need.
God bless,
